Economizer Controls
Review controls that coordinate an outside-air damper with cooling, ventilation, and supported fan sequences.
An economizer sequence uses suitable outdoor conditions to help meet a cooling demand. The controller needs to coordinate the outside-air damper with the equipment's cooling and ventilation operation.
Product options
The Pelican PEARL Advanced Equipment Controller adds economizer and configurable equipment-control functions to a compatible Pelican thermostat. It connects to that thermostat through Pelican's three-wire power-and-data interface.
The TC1 is an option to evaluate for temperature-based equipment control. TC3 and TC4 provide CO₂ sensing when the project also needs demand-controlled ventilation. PEARL is an accessory within the system, not a standalone room thermostat.
Before selecting
Record the existing economizer model, damper actuator signal and power, temperature sensors, fan speeds, and cooling stages. Use the PEARL application diagrams to identify the supported arrangement and any additional parts. Existing actuators and sensors should not be assumed reusable without checking their specifications.
Commission damper travel and the ventilation settings for the installed equipment. Keep economizer cooling and minimum ventilation requirements distinct when reviewing the sequence.
