Ventilation controls coordinate outdoor-air delivery with the building's equipment. Residential fresh-air scheduling and commercial demand-controlled ventilation use different inputs and sequences.
Residential fresh-air control
The W8150A1001 operates a fresh-air intake damper and calls the HVAC blower when needed. Its setup uses home and airflow information to determine ventilation operation. This catalog item is the control; the damper and transformer associated with a complete Y8150 system are not included.
Commercial demand-controlled ventilation
The Pelican PEARL works with a compatible Pelican thermostat to control the outside-air damper. TC3 and TC4 models provide the CO₂ sensing used for demand-based ventilation. The complete installation also needs the appropriate actuators, sensors, and Pelican network.
Before selecting
Identify the outside-air path, damper actuator, supply-fan operation, required airflow, and available control signals. For the W8150, collect the home and measured airflow information required by its setup procedure. For Pelican, confirm the CO₂-capable thermostat and commission the damper positions for the actual equipment and fan speeds.
Damper position alone is not an airflow measurement. The ventilation design and field setup determine delivered air; a controller selection alone does not establish code compliance.
